Sustainable Seacoast Restaurant Membership

Interested in becoming a Sustainable Seacoast compliant restaurant? Check out the guidelines below to see the requirements and opportunities for your establishment.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Reusable dinnerware for dine in guests (next step for take-out establishments)
  • No polystyrene
  • No plastic bags
  • Proper recycling practices followed
  • Straws & To-Go utensils ‘On demand’ only
  • If bio-plastics are offered, commercial composting service and receptacles must be provided.
  • Restaurant must commit to working toward Next Step Opportunities in their Sustainability journey
  • Provide Patron Members Perks: ie: exclusives, extended happy hour, discounts, high-five, etc.

Next Step Opportunities

  • No beverages available in plastic bottles
  • In house containers such as portion cups are reusable
  • “Bring Your Own” cups, bags, etc. encouraged with programs/discounts
  • Paper straws used for ‘On Demand’
  • Composting for food waste
  • To-go containers limited to paper or #1 & #2 plastics
  • To-go container take back programs
  • Increased local sourcing for food and other goods
  • Offer regular vegan options
  • Water and energy conservation efforts
  • Food Waste reduction plans
